Blogging with Caution

The emergence and rapidly growing popularity of blogging has aroused a range of different types of blogs. From corporate, to media blogs, to political and to the most common and popular form – the personal blogs.

Personal blogs are blogs that serve as an on-going account of an individual’s life. They are personal online diaries that are regularly updated by the owner to share to his reader his recent experiences or merely to broadcast his reflections on various topics. Many of these blogs provide commentary to the various social issues and also include an interactive outlet in the form of comments, making the blog more dynamic and appealing to its readers.

Though blogs, in general, are harmless and are usually kept personal by their owners, there are those who stand out with controversial posts that spark the interest, or fury, of their readers. One of the unforeseen negative consequences of blogging is the defaming or incriminating posts or when bloggers recklessly publish confidential or proprietary information.

With blogs, self-expression has never been as convenient, but you can only be too careful. Post with caution. There have already been several cases in the past where people have been handed subpoenas or got fired up because of posts they have published in their blogs.
